I was using Tweetdeck to manage my social networks, but I recently set up my account at Hootsuite and am really liking it. It has more social networks integrated into it than Tweetdeck does. Not only does it have support for Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin, and Ping.fm it also includes Wordpress, Four Square, Myspace and even a custom rss feed option.
Are you on Facebook? Sure you are and who isn’t these days so why not take advantage of this bit of demographic info to drive new visitors to your website. This is a fairly simple process, but due to the fact that Facebook is constantly changing how their site works it can be a bit confusing so I’ll do a quick run down here and then show you how to automatically populate your fan page with content from your website.
I stopped dropping cards about 6 months ago. I was pretty active for a while and I did see results in Google Analytics, but I don’t know how targeted my traffic was. It did increase the amount of unique hits I was getting, but it also increased the amount of spam comments I was getting. In the end I don’t know what value it added to my site. The very nature of Entrecard feels like something that will eventually be banned by the major search engines.
So you’ve found or created your niche and now you want to stir up some traffic . What’s the next step? Well aside from writing relevant, unique content there’s a list of rules you should be following. The search engines are looking for specific criteria that I’ll explain below. See what the bots are seeing with using the links browser here. Run this after applying the following information to see why this effective.
I’ve been spending some time with the new social networking offering from Google, Google Buzz. All in all I really like it and below are the reasons why.
I’ve been playing around with Tweet Adder today and am trying to determine if this is a program I should purchase or not. So far all the reviews I’ve been reading have been positive, but to be honest it just feels a little like black hat SEO to me.
In an effort to increase traffic to my newly revamped website I began stepping up my Twitter efforts. Why is this important you might ask? Well with the advent of Google Live Search it makes more sense now than ever to get on board with Twitter. As Google Live lists the most current updates returned from the social networks this was a no-brainer to step up my tweeting.
I posted this question as I’m still not sure if you can even optimize for Google Live Search aside from submitting to social networks. Live Search pulls the most recent updates from social networks across the web and displays them in line with regular Google results. New results are pulled as they happen.
Tweetdeck is a program for following and contributing to social networks. In particular Twitter (obviously), Facebook, LinkedIn and Myspace. Not only can you follow all of these accounts, but you can follow multiple versions of these accounts.
In this post I showed you how to automatically post updates to a number of different social networks, but that doesn’t mean that you’re done submitting if you truly want to get your blog the maximum exposure possible. In addition to being posted to the main social networks like Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin here are a few more sites you should make sure you’re listed on.
Ping.fm is a great free web service that enables users to post to multiple social networks at one time. It can be configured to update most of the popular social networks including Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Linkedin and many more. As an SEO guy I still submit my posts to Digg, Reddit, Simpy and Stumbleupon manually as these services require a little more finessing, but are no less valuable.
