Are you on Facebook? Sure you are and who isn’t these days so why not take advantage of this bit of demographic info to drive new visitors to your website. This is a fairly simple process, but due to the fact that Facebook is constantly changing how their site works it can be a bit confusing so I’ll do a quick run down here and then show you how to automatically populate your fan page with content from your website.
How to Create A Facebook Page
First things first if you want to have a fan page you must first create a page. People cannot become fans of your profile so what you’ll need to do is create a place for visitors to go. Once your logged into your account visit the Facebook page creation page. From here you can choose what type of business, brand or organization you wish to have a page for. Be specific when you name your page as this is an important key phrase that people will be searching for.
Once you have created your page you can update your page image with what ever suits your needs. It’s also a good idea to tell your friends about your new page once it’s live. You can easily do this by clicking on the, “Suggest to friends”, link on the upper left hand side of the page.
How To Automatically Populate Your Fan Page With Blog Content
Once your page is created you can start off submitting links and other info by hand, but if you’re interested in automatically syndicating posts from your blog here follow the quick tutorial below.
There are a few ways of doing this using a variety of Facebook applications that are out there, but I prefer using Twitterfeed. Twitterfeed allows you to feed your site’s rss feed to not only Twitter, but Facebook, Laconi.ca, HelloTxt and Ping fm. This is beautiful as you can configure Ping.fm to hit a huge number of social networks including Twitter, Facebook, Delicious & many more.
Since I already use Twitterfeed to syndicate my rss feed it was just a matter of updating ping.fm to publish this content on my fan page.
To use Twitterfeed first sign up for an account here. Once signed up you will be asked to enter your rss feed. There are a number of different publishing options including Twitter, facebbok and more, but since we’re using ping.fm to submit to all of these social networks and more this is the option you will want to choose.
If you’re already using ping.fm click on the posting link next to the Facebook icon to pull up the settings panel. From here you can provide access from Facebook to post to your fan page.

If you’re not already using ping.fm to syndicate content to your social networks you’ll want to add your networks now as this is where your content will be feed. Once this has been configured posts from your blog will appear on your Facebook page.
