I’ve been spending some time with the new social networking offering from Google, Google Buzz. All in all I really like it and below are the reasons why.
- Google Buzz integrates seamlessly with your Gmail. Updates from the social network are sent directly to your inbox.
- Follow requests appear at the top of your page when you click on the google buzz tab. This message is then easily dismissed.
- Buzz provides another avenue for getting listed on Google live.
- There are plugins built specifically for Google Buzz. Many websites have begun implementing them already. I’ve recently installed WP Google Buzz
- You can connect sites you already use and import your content from Twitter, Picasa, Flickr, and Google Reader.
- Easily post to this network through a comment-like interface.
Can You Buzz Too Much?
The social networking website Mashable is huge into Google Buzz. So much so that I receive status updates non-stop all day long. I don’t know how great that is as they post so often I frequently miss a lot of new news. Some of it intentionally. I think I would spend more time reading their updates if they were less frequent. This is just something to think about as I pretty much send all my posts through my own list of social networks as well, but If you’re posting this often it might be a good idea to lay off a bit…? Though I suppose you could say the same about Twitter.
Just some initial thoughts about the new social network.
